About Me
Chris Potter
I bring a Story/Narrative approach to the counseling relationship, creating a warm and safe space to explore how your lived experience has guided and shaped your behavior, thoughts, patterns, and relationships. I am trained in Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT) and bring a Relational and Attachment Theory lens to the counseling journey. I have been working with individuals and groups in this area for 15+ years. I received my BA in Leadership & Ministry at Multnomah University and completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Concordia University. I currently have my Associate's License in Washington State.
Story Based Approach
Through a Story-Based approach to therapy, I seek to meet you right where you are in your unique story. Often therapy simply focuses on relieving negative symptoms occurring in the now, but the challenges and emotional pain found in our lives many times can be traced back to experiences and relationships in our past. Too often we are not given the tools or space to acknowledge these hurts so that we can find the growth, healing, and transformation we desire.
My approach looks at your whole story and seeks to identify patterns present that might be keeping you from the joy, happiness, and fullness you long for. I work with individuals and couples who are looking to heal and grow and specialize in walking alongside those struggling with many different kinds of issues including relationship problems, anxiety, depression, stress, and grief. Many of these struggles are rooted in deeper stories that need to be expressed. By looking at those stories we can understand more of how they have helped shape us into who we are and how that impacts us now.
